Malaysia: Aerobics not prohibited in Islam ~ mosques
The usual bizarre stuff coming out of Malaysia-truly Arabia these days!
It is obvious that the women were using the mosque hall for aerobic dance - now that's been banned.
The article says ~ that it is permissible for non-Muslims to enter a mosque ~ but this is on top of talk of forbidding non-Muslims from entering. So be it!!
KOTA BARU: Islam does not prohibit any activity, including aerobics, to be carried out in the compound of a mosque as long as such activities do not contravene Syariah principles, said PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
He said it should not be a problem for either Muslims or non-Muslims to conduct any activity outside or inside the mosque.
“In Islam, it is not wrong for certain quarters to hold activities in mosques because even during the time of Prophet Muhammad, non-believers were also allowed to enter mosques because they also acted as the centre for various activities, including politics,” he told reporters after delivering a Friday sermon at Dataran Ilmu, here Friday.
The Kelantan Mentri Besar was commenting on the action of Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching who was reported to have entered the compound of Taman Cheras Jaya Mosque in Balakong, Selangor in tight attire and participated in some aerobics exercise with the congregation of the mosque, which was deemed as not respecting the house of worship.
Nik Abdul Aziz said the question whether the MP was wearing immodest dress was the second thing that needed to be addressed.
“Most importantly, we have to tell them the things that are religiously forbidden while in the mosque ... we have to explain the Islamic rules and regulations before he or she be allowed to enter the mosque,” he said.
Prior to this, Nie Ching had also caused a controversy when she delivered a talk in a surau in Kajang Sentral, Kajang in August. -- Bernama

Geert Wilders writes anti-Islamization book
Dutch Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders will publish an anti-Islam book in the first half of 2011, he told the Telegraaf newspaper in an interview on Friday.
“The book is aimed mainly at the US market and focuses on how to combat the spread of Islam on a global level. We can do a lot here in the Netherlands, but we want to send out a strong international signal to the Arab world that a party in the centre of power in this country is fighting back,” Mr Wilders told the paper.
His Freedom Party cherishes “a wide range” of ambitions, he says in the interview. “Our first priority is to launch the International Freedom Alliance, which boils down to a platform against Islam. That will be huge.”
The book will be Mr Wilders’ second, after the publication in 2005 of a short autobiography, titled Kies voor vrijheid (Choose for Freedom).

Pakistan on strike against bill to amend blasphemy law - change would happen "over our dead bodies"
A 24-hour strike organised by Sunni Muslim clerics is taking place across Pakistan to protest against possible changes to blasphemy laws.
Rallies were staged in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta after Friday prayers.
The government has distanced itself from a bill to change the law, which carries a mandatory death sentence for anyone who insults Islam.
Rights groups say the law is often used to persecute religious minorities.
The legislation returned to the spotlight in November when a Pakistani Christian woman, Asia Bibi, was sentenced to death.
Although no-one convicted under the law has been executed, more than 30 accused have been killed by lynch mobs.

Sun, Sea, Sand & Sharia ~ Maldives Christmas Crackdown: Xmas decorations and 'festive' lunch offer get restaurant in deep water

The little broken nation ~ that was.
There is a saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Maldivian efforts at Islamization ~ is the fixing of something that ain't broke.
They fixed it such that ~ if you leave the religion [the one they choose for you] ~ you have to leave the Island!!
No non-Muslim citizens allowed!
...one restaurant employee was taken in for questioning on Tuesday and later released.
The offending [Christmas] streamers were quickly removed.
Yes ~ its beginning to look a lot like Arabia ~ everywhere I go!!
A special Christmas promotion aimed at foreigners at a Maldivian restaurant got the restaurant owners into deep trouble.
Islam is the official religion in Maldives and constitutionally, there is only place for Sunni Muslims; practice of other religions is prohibited. Display of other religious symbols attracts police action.
In this case, the restaurant was decorated for Christmas with items related to the celebration.
This led to protests from religious groups such as the Adhaalath Party and the Islamic Foundation of the Maldives, which led to the arrest of one restaurant employee, the independent Maldivian newspaper Minivan News reported.
“Some people gathered and protested against the decorations, because it was like celebrating Christmas,” police spokesman Ahmed Shiyam told AFP. Mr. Shiyam added one restaurant employee was taken in for questioning on Tuesday and later released.
The offending streamers were quickly removed.
Turkey Presses Obama On U.S. Armenian Resolution - 'Will harm U.S.-Turkish relations' ~ Hmm!
Let's count the countries that will suffer the Turkish wrath after having acknowledged the deaths of so many at the hands of Turkish forces ~ Australia, France, Sweden or Denmark ~ if we keep counting that would add up to more than half the free world.
What could they really threaten ~ without harming themselves more?
Turkey's foreign minister says that the country's prime minister urged U.S. President Barack Obama to stop a resolution in the U.S. Congress that would classify as genocide the mass killings of Armenians during World War I.
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told the Turkish parliament today that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote Obama a letter warning that if the resolution was passed -- it is up for debate in the House as early as December 21 -- it would harm U.S.-Turkish relations.
Armenia estimates that 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks from 1915 to 1917 and says the deaths amount to genocide.
Turkey denies this.

Those advocating for basic freedoms and human rights in Iran ~ could be compared to 1930's gangsters USA. Pushing for women's rights ~ makes you public enemy #1 ~ an Al Capone. And the only way to bring them down is on tax evasion charges.
Nevermind religion ~ it is just good to be thankful you were born in a free country ~ in the free world.
Of course Allah loves women ~ just not the ones alive today!
(AKI) - Iranian public prosecutors said on Thursday they will impound the assets of Nobel peace laureate and human rights activist Shirin Ebadi, whom they accuse of dodging 110,000 euros of tax, according to pro-government daily Asre Iran.
The taxes Ebadi - a former judge - has allegedly evaded include those payable to the Iranian state on her 2003 Nobel Peace Prize.
*Former judge ~ Iran's first women judge to preside over a court ~ after the Revolución they made her a legal secretary!!
Ebadi has been living in Europe since the disputed presidential election of June, 2009, but if she returns to Iran she will not be allowed to leave the country again.
In November, 2009, Ebadi said her Nobel medal had been confiscated on the orders of Tehran's Revolutionary Court. This was later denied by the Iranian government.
An Iranian court also froze her bank accounts, demanding 410,000 dollars in taxes it said was owed on the 1.3 million dollars prize money.
Ebadi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her pioneering efforts to promote democracy and human rights, was the first Muslim woman and the first Iranian Nobel laureate.
Although she has not been arrested since winning the Nobel prize, many of Ebadi's close associates have been targeted, including her sister, who was arrested in December 2009 and later released.

Almost fifty imams and muftis murdered in North Caucasus - in Wahabi takeover

Moscow, December 29, Interfax - Renowned islamologist Roman Silantyev cited statistics according to which about fifty Islamic spiritual leaders were killed in the North Caucuses for fighting against Wahhabism.
"Almost 50 people were killed. These people could have formed a big muftiat," he said in the The Faith and the World program on the Voice of Russia radio.
According to the islamologist, there are few such people left in Russia: "they are killed almost every month, losses is some Muslim boards are irreplaceable, the greater number of people who were able to actively fight against Wahhabism have been killed."
"Others are demoralized and stopped opposing or just deserted to the enemy. The situation is critical," Silantyev believes.
He is satisfied that Russian authorities ordered to give security guards to Muslim spiritual leaders in the North Caucasus, "or we can just stay without allies."
CAIR Leader Says “We Are the First Defenders of the Constitution” - Video
Takia - or the making up of stories to protect Islam's image. That Islam could in anyway be a defender of the Constitution ~ is a part of the narrative ~ which is disproved in practise across the Islamic world. The equality of man ~ in the Islamic world no non-Muslim can be equal to a Muslim ~ which forms a part of the dhimmi laws ~ that place religious, social and legal restrictions on non-Muslims. And it could be what drives Muslim fears in the West. Firstly this all started with the Muslim attacks and numerous thwarted attacks ~ that led people to try and understand Islam better. When Muslim answers did not suffice ~ people turned to others ~ those who would tell us what the Koran and Islamic Holy books actually say. For example, Muslims could be doubly worried. If your dream is to erect an Islamic society ~ where non-Muslims take an inferior position ~ then your greatest fear must be that society ~ Western society ~ will do the same to you.
A part of the Western Muslim problem ~ is that if you are used to living in a society where Islam dominates ~ and where all others are held as inferiors ~ then it is difficult to adjust to life in a pluralistic society ~ where other people's views ~ some opposed to your strongly held Islamic views ~ are heard.
Robert Spencer's ~ of Jihad Watch , for example, grandfather was Armenian ~ and was one of the refugees from the genocide in Turkish. Armenian life under the Ottomans was about Islamic rule. The same Islamic laws Muslims see the whole world ~ one subjected to. Robert in his capacity as a religious scholar is sounding the alarm.
Muslims are welcomed to dream ~ but they should know, the rest of us are not obliged to live in it.
The communications director for the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has appeared on Iranian TV where he said that “we are the first defenders of the constitution.” According to an Iranian Press TV report:

Jihad Kathie!! Grand-Burqa & German-Jihadi Hubby ~ of Interest - Video
INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis woman dubbed "Jihad Kathie" by some online admits she's on the radar of U.S. authorities after a video she made with her husband, but denies she has any links to terrorism.
| Claims nothing to do with terrorism - look at the pic. below ~ clearly they are emulating violent jihadism. |
Kathie Smith, 46, a U.S. citizen and a convert to Islam, married a man last year who FoxNews.com reported is a suspected German jihadist, and has been flying back and forth to Germany to visit him.
Recently, a nearly six-minute video surfaced showing Smith and her husband, known online as Salahudin Ibn Ja'far, 28, posing, hugging and holding weapons along with photos of men accused of plotting attacks against Americans in Germany and assorted jihadist propaganda.

"They're saying it's my husband… that I married, who's in Germany, has ties to ... a cell over in Germany, and that's not true,” Smith, who goes by the Muslim name Zubaida, told 6News' Rick Hightower. “Now, he did know these people."
Life on Hold for Egyptian Christian Arrested for his Faith - Accused of Defaming the 'Revealed Religion' of Islam
Someone did not get the 'No compulsion in Islam' memo!!
Proof that Western Muslims are spinning us a tale. Embarrassed ~ they make up stories.
Before his search, Ashraf Thabet did his best to observe Muslim rules....
Despite his efforts, Thabet admitted that his understanding of God was based on fear and routine, nearly rote obedience.
“There was no spiritual relationship between myself and God,”..
Islam has to be the least spiritual religion in the world.
“In the Quran only God could raise people from the dead. I noticed that Jesus could raise people from the dead, and that He could heal people.
Jesus raised the dead... Muhammad has been recorded as having intercourse with the dead...
Jesus healed the sick... Muhammad promised to put a man's head by his feet... at the suggestion he did not recognize his claim to prophethood..
...under Islam, “Muslim converts don’t have the right to exist.”
Eventually police came for Thabet. On March 22 at 3 a.m., he said, 11 officers from the SSI cut the power to his home, kicked down his front door and assaulted him in front of his crying wife and children.
...seizing his computer and every book and CD he owned. They took him to jail.
Authorities interrogated Thabet non-stop for 12 hours, took a break and then interrogated him for seven more, he said.
All over a man's personal choice ~ as to what he should believe.
And again it does show a desperate insecure Islam ~ that has to resort to forcing people to remain in it and to believe in it, even after they no longer want to. And after they have made it clear they have rejected its very basis.
Unresolved charge of ‘defaming religion’ leaves him in perpetual limbo.
CAIRO, Egypt, December 16 (CDN) — An Egyptian who left Islam to become a Christian and consequently lost his wife, children and business is waiting to see if the government will now take away his freedom for “defaming” Islam.
Ashraf Thabet, 45, is charged with defaming a revealed religion, Article 98f of the Egyptian Penal Code. The charges stem from Thabet’s six-year search for spiritual meaning that eventually led him to become a Christian. During his search, he shared his doubts about Islam and told others what he was learning about Jesus Christ.
Frightened and confused Muslims turn to fatwa factory for comfort - UAE issues 1,000 fatwas a day in 2010 - figure expected to rise
Curious to know ~ how many laws are there in Islam? To be a good Muslim one must likely have to follow ~ up to a 1/4 million rules ~ then and only then will the God Allah be pleased. [Figure a lucky guess!!]
More I think ~ what is most pronounced about Islam ~ is what is 'not' permissible. So that the more things that are added to this list adds to the Muslims' sense of separateness ~ which has a supremacist basis ~ as those who don't forbid these things, of course ~ are seen as not being as worthy ~ so that the things that are forbidden are like the feathers on an exotic bird ~ for the Muslims ~ the more you adorn yourself with them ~ the theory is the more superior the bird.
Religious edicts or fatwas issued by UAE in 2010 is expected to exceed 350,000, averaging almost 30,000 fatwas a month, or 1,000 a day, a daily reported on Tuesday.
The Fatwa Center at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf) in Abu Dhabi opened up in 2008, as a response to people’s request to know what is permissible and not in Islam, and started offering the service in English after hitting success, the UAE-based The National reported.
"This decision was based on the tremendous interest in the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments website, both locally and internationally, and to help non-Arabic website visitors benefit from our services," Dr. Mohammad Mattar al Kaabi, Awqaf's director general told the newspaper. "The fatwa center is a true success."

At least 80 reported dead in Nigerian clashes - Islamic group claims responsibility for bombs - Video
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria -AP- Police in northeastern Nigeria say that members of a radical Muslim sect have wounded three people.
The Borno state police spokesman said Wednesday that members of the radical Muslim sect Boko Haram had shot a retired senior police officer and two civilians in the city of Maiduguri Tuesday.
The group is also blamed for two Christmas Eve attacks on churches that killed six people.
In a statement attributed to the group, Boko Haram also claimed responsibility for Christmas Eve bomb blasts in a city about 320 miles (520 kilometers) away that left at least 32 dead.
Boko Haram was thought to be vanquished in 2009 after Nigeria's military crushed its mosque and its leader died in police custody. But now, a year later, members have stepped up attacks.
5 arrested in plot to attack Muhammad cartoon paper - wanted "to kill as many of the people present as possible."
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Five men planning to shoot as many people as possible in a building housing the newsroom of a paper that published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad were arrested Wednesday in an operation that halted an imminent attack, intelligence officials said.
Denmark's intelligence service said it arrested four men in two raids in suburbs of the capital, Copenhagen, and seized an automatic weapon, a silencer and ammunition. Swedish police said they arrested a 37-year-old Swedish citizen of Tunisian origin living in Stockholm.
"An imminent terror attack has been foiled," said Jakob Scharf, head of the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, or PET. He described some the suspects as "militant Islamists with relations to international terror networks" and said that more arrests were possible.
PET said it seized a 44-year-old Tunisian, a 29-year-old Lebanese-born man and a 30-year-old who were living in Sweden and had entered Denmark late Tuesday or early Wednesday. The fourth person detained was a 26-year-old Iraqi asylum-seeker living in Copenhagen.
The Danish intelligence service said the group had been planning to enter the building where the Jyllands-Posten daily has its Copenhagen newsdesk and had wanted "to kill as many of the people present as possible." The four men face preliminary charges of attempting to carry out an act of terrorism. They will face a custody hearing Thursday.
