Saudi Arabia's national carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) said that women will not be hired as flight attendants, reported the Dubai-based daily Gulf News.
"We will not employ Saudi flight attendants but we plan to hire women in specially-designated sales centres and information technology departments," said SAA director-general Khalid al-Mulhem.
SAA said that hiring women as flight attendants was inconsistent with Saudi society.
In 2006, the airline had said that it intended to hire more Saudi women to increase their job opportunities, while at the same time respecting religious teachings.
