Mass-scale unrest in the south of Kyrgyzstan has reached the capital city, with the first clashes reported from Bishkek suburbs.
The situation in the southern Kyrgyz city Osh remains involved, with shootouts reported despite the imposed curfew. Death toll has reached 49, while the number of wounded has exceeded 650.
Clashes between ethnic Uzbeks and Kyrgyz erupted late at night of June 10th. The authorities have so far been unable to get the situation under control, although Interior Troop reinforcements from other districts, as well as police units from Bishkek have been sent to Osh to help out the local law enforcement agencies.
