One of the organizers of the demonstration against the cartoons in the newspaper Dagbladet warned that terrorist acts may take place in Norway about Muslims not being respected.
The newspaper Dagbladet was reporting that cartoons which showed the prophet Mohammed as a pig could be found via links on the Norwegian Police Security Service Facebook pages. In the article they also talked about some of the comments being anti-Semitic ~ that someone is talking about 11 Sept might come their was for this - that is ridiculous. The big question is were the police aware of what was being posted on the link.
Original article
A search on the discussion page on the PST Facebook profile their talk page shows a number of statements that many will regard as offensive and deeply hurtful.
Only a few inches from the serious statements and caricature drawing Dagbladet had been found, the PST even made links to job vacancies in the secret police.
If you push the wrong link, it is not a lucrative position as a police inspector in the security police who arrive on the computer screen - but a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad, portrayed as a pig.
Translation
One of the organizers of the demonstration against the cartoons in the newspaper Dagbladet warned that terrorist acts may take place in Norway if Muslims are not being respected.
- When to Norwegian authorities understand this. Hopefully not before it is too late. Maybe we get a 11 September or 7 July on Norwegian soil. It is not a threat but a warning, said Mohyeldeen Mohammad as he held his appeal to the thousands of Muslims who had turned up.
Religious Researcher Kari Vogt, University of Oslo said that such remarks during an otherwise peaceful demonstration is violating.
The Turks have responded by hacking the newspaper's site.
Here is the new logo of the Turkish hacker group 1923TURK, according to Turkish web sites. Hackers claiming to be behind the attack on the newspaper Dagbladet
Taking the blame
Several Turkish network newspapers write that the Turkish hacker group 1923TURK has taken the blame for the attack.
- We were attacked because Dagbladet not respect our values, our history and the Prophet Muhammad, said the hackers to the Turkish newspaper Beyazgazete News, which has depicted a pig that is covered by a Norwegian flag.
1923TURK shall previously have attacked the Pentagon.
- Dagbladet attack against our prophet is disrespectful, Norwegians have no respect for anything. Therefore, we attacked the newspaper, said the hackers to the radical Turkish nettavisen Internet Haber News. [+]
- Here they have democratic rights and will express their views, but only to mention such a thing is insulting, "says Vogt about Muhammad's statements to NRK.
She is not surprised that Muslims have difficulty understanding that freedom of speech in Norway shall allow such a design that Dagbladet printed on the front page last week.
- One does not go far back in time in Norway rather to see that blasphemy was a case that could be brought to justice. We must be aware that others have a different sensitivity to such remarks, "said Vogt saying that this is a something that can change over time.
May partly Muslims in Norway gradually become more tolerant of the expression, but she does not rule out that the Norwegians might have a stricter practice of today's attitude to free speech. (NTB)
