The same attitude towards young boys in Afghanistan seems to be prevalent in Pakistan.
Islamabad, February 19: At least 95 percent of truck drivers in Pakistan consider indulging in sexual activities during their rest time as their main entertainment.
According to The News, transportation terminals and bus stands are the main hubs for such activity, as truck drivers are away from home for an average of 21.5 days in a month.
Sahil, an NGO working for child rights, shared these deplorable findings at the launch of a report titled ‘A Situational Analysis of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children in Transport Industry of Pakistan’.
The survey was conducted with 505 persons, including 170 drivers, 169 helper boys and 166 driver hotel owners.
To determine the status of the issue and unveil the reality, the working group conducted a research in six major cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Sukkur, Karachi and Quetta, where transportation hubs exist.

An established Commercial Photography Studio in the Boston area is seeking a motivated and reliable intern for full or part time unpaid internship or co-op position starting June 1, 2011. Minimum 16 hours per week & 2 -month commitment preferred.
Must be familiar with or have desire to learn about the commercial & fashion photography industries. The perfect candidate is a quick learner, capable of multi-tasking, fluent with all Photoshop tools and procedures, Internet research, FTP posting, and digital file management. Must possess strong communication and written skills. Additionally, this is an internship for an intermediate or advanced Photoshop user who is interested in being challenged at a professional level.
Familiarity with Nikon’s is a plus. Second assisting on photo shoots will be part of the internship.
Main priority will be preparing files, burning back-up discs & digital retouching Therefore you must be precise and have a good eye for color and able to learn quickly and work efficiently.
Your responsibilities will also include but are not limited to: digital image archiving, professional-grade Epson printing, posting and managing FTP’s, assisting in studio management with general office tasks; i.e., scheduling appointments portfolio showings, answering phones, gallery/charity submissions, portfolio updates, general upkeep of the studio, calling in portfolios for models, hair, make-up.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn hands-on retouching skills and acquire contacts with key industry individuals; i.e., editors, agents, art directors, designers, models, hair/makeup/fashion and prop stylists, etc…
