The German imam is a strong advocate for Shari'a law - it is understandable why he would be a little disappointed with the Swiss ban - he likely hoped to lay his Shari'a infrastructure over the EU's nondiscriminatory rights systems. Not so big on bans - unless he openly calls for violence.
Switzerland has decided to stop German Islamic preacher Pierre Vogel from entering the country. Mr Vogel was due to speak at a rally in Bern against the Swiss ban on minarets.
But the Swiss authorities have ruled that the preacher's views are so radical that he forms a danger to public safety. Mr Vogel advocates the introduction of Sharia law and has courted controversy in the past by making strongly worded statements against homosexuals.
In a referendum last month, the people of Switzerland backed a ban on building more minarets in the country. On Saturday the country's central Muslim council is due to demonstrate against the ban.
