Sights and sounds of the EDL Manchester anti-Sharia protest [Video/ pics.]

The English Defence League (EDL) held a demostration in the city's Picadilly Gardens where anti-right wing protesters also held a rally. The EDL slogan is that they are Peacefully Protesting against militant Islam and claim that 'it is not an act of Fascism to oppose Terrorists and Sharia'.

Must say this time that the overall coverage on EDL was fairer. Although race was raised in much of the reporting - EDL was not called racist or fascist. It is probably a good idea to tell people who you are on a placard - rather than allowing others define what you believe.

Hard to find photos of the United Against Fascists (UAF) - probably because they have the wrong name on their posters - it was the EDL they were demonstrating against - not the BNP.

Just from looking back both these guys appear to be EDL but I know UAF got bitten too. Be interesting to know the sum total of bites today.

It seems like dogs instead of batons.

What you don't see is large amounts of Muslims as with the Harrow mosque Stop the Islamisation of Europe (SIOE) protest, September 11 - such as these:

Curious flag. Isn't that the one that's supposed to fly over Downing Street when Muslims take over?

Trouble is some - seem to believe that his right to voice his opinion should be valued over all others - because others might cause offence.

UAF an interesting bunch - bearded Muslims and ultra-Left winger-Socialists - they don't even want the same things.

Surveying the damage - Muslim protesters went on the rampage - attacking police and obviously this police van. But it was all downplayed - as Muslims were said to have been provoked - by anti-Islamisation campaigners (SIOE) who called off their demonstration early - which meant the Muslims along with ultra-Left-wing supporters - had the field to themselves. And more because Muslims were "provoked" - the UAF were trying to petition the government to remove the right to peacefully protest - for those who protest against Islamisation - or the erosion of freedoms and rights with respect to Islam and Muslim sensibilities.
