Nice Muslims Versus Realities of Islamization and Sharia

I think Alan Lake made a good point at the Seminar on Islamization, Malmo Sweden - when it comes to standing up to radical Islam and Islamization - people often make the argument - well, the Muslims I know are nice people - or I can't hate all Muslims. So because Muslims are nice people - and are no different from any other people you meet travelling around this world - then - we should have Sharia law - and allow our laws on freedom of speech and expression and the freedom of religion to be eroded - because you visited a Muslim country and enjoyed the tea.

One of the things that struck home - when I spent time in a Muslim country during Ramadan period - was that this was not about good and bad people - but what people would be willing to do - that this was about control. Muslims who have left Islam will tell you of their relief of getting rid of this thing that had complete control of their lives. It dawned on me as the days went on during Ramadan - and seeing first hand the almost drone like existence of the people - that these people could be instructed to do anything.

And this is where I believe we have the problem. And a lot of Muslim actions are counter-intuitive. Seeing that the west offers people freedom - many Muslim women fight to have that freedom removed. What we have are nice people - who are controlled - if you are caught stepping out of line - then there is this violent force within Islam to bring you back into line - or to eradicate you. The most obvious place to look for this is Saudi Arabia - where almost daily someone loses their head. But then look closer to home in almost every Muslim household - the women live in fear - and I have seen the fear in their eyes - of a male family member(s) - who monitor her actions - and who would not hesitate to use violence or even death to correct her perceived misbehavior.

A lot of times in the West abused women are nice people - because people are nice doesn't mean that this whole reality isn't going on. Then we have to dig deeper and ask - why should nice people object to freedoms and individual rights - maybe they are nice but also brainwashed people.

Muslims cannot question Islam - in the West we know that that is the hallmark of a religious cult. One that requires total unquestioning obedience / submission. Fine if you want to be a part of that - but in no way should this controlling ideology be extended out into the wider world.

Here is a picture of a smiling Taliban. He is probably a nice guy. But the reason he is holding that gun - is for a not-so-nice reason and that is to remove the locals' freedom and impose Islamic laws. And remember Islamic laws are those which respect the sensibilities of Muslims - above all others. In the west if laws are made to abolish freedoms and replace them with laws that respect Islam - then we will have Islamic laws. All (nice) Muslims have to do is to work to add on to them - until they can create the Islamic state they desire.

We non-Muslims are nice people too. And even those who aren't so nice - still deserve to have their rights respected.

Just because a Muslim extends common courtesy - doesn't mean that they should also have the right to impose Sharia law on others.

And the argument works the other way as well - because people profess to having racist/ hateful views [or have been accused of having them] - this shouldn't be used as an excuse to impose Sharia law on the whole society as a way to so-called protect Muslims. Then it becomes a violation of everyone's rights. The icing on the cake - is that there will be religious freedoms only for (nice) Muslims - which is the reality in every single Muslim country on earth.
