Islamunist Iran: Authorities hold Islamic women's 'fashion show' -- i.e. various outfits in black

If the Islamic revolution goes well - we will all be wearing black - but to the Iranian's authority's credit they have allowed in a little colour this year. One should find out the rules as to when one can wear these brighter outfits outside of the house with out being arrested - for breaking the Islamic dress code.

Tehran, 21 July (AKI) - Iran's hardline authorities have organised a 'fashion parade' to showcase correct female Islamic dress.

Some 60 rigorously Islamic outfits were modelled during the event - each completely covering the women's bodies from head to toe.

Iran's Culture and Islamic Orientation Minister Saffar Harandi hailed the Islamic 'fashion parade' as "unprecedented".

"This is an unparalelled event for Iranian women, who until now have not had the opportunity to dress how they want to but have been forced to wear whatever the fashion industry imposes on our society," Harandi stated.

Journalists and photographers attended the show but few members of the public.

The 'fashion show' followed a 'moralisation drive' launched by Iran's authorities that was aimed at clamping down on Western-style dress and hairstyles.
